San Antonio, Texas is a golfer’s heaven simply because there are so many outstanding courses. In fact, San Antonio is moving to the top of the list of the nation’s best golf destinations simply because there are so many diverse courses. There are courses for every budget and every skill level. These reasons combined make San Antonio a fabulous golf destination. Of course, the weather plays an important role in  the popularity of San Antonio golf as well. There are over 300 days of sunshine, and the weather is almost always perfect for playing golf. La Cantera-Palmer Course

This is one of Texas’ greatest courses and the best San Antonio has to offer. This par 72 course has rolling hills and amazing views. There are some water holes that might cause you a problem, and the greens are pretty fast. This course is certainly not the least expensive to play at $120 a round, although there are some discounts that may be found on the Internet.

Hyatt Hill Country Resort

In its first year of operation, Golf Digest nominated this course as the best resort golf course. Golf Magazine also nominated this course as one of the best top ten to play. Arthur Hills designed this outstanding course with plenty of par 3s, 4s, and 5s. Located adjacent to the Hyatt Hotel, this is an outstanding resort course that everyone should play while in San Antonio.

Quarry Golf Club

The Quarry Golf Club was designed by Keith Foster. This course is known nationally for its singular design and character. The first nine holes are set on grasslands, but then the last nine holes are set  in an old quarry. This makes for some interesting golf!

Pecan Valley Golf Club

The Pecan Valley Golf Club is outstanding and nationally renowned. It was designed by J. Press Maxwell, but over the years the course lost some of its original splendor. However, architect Bob Cupp along with $5.5 million, has helped to bring the original splendor back to the Pecan Valley Golf Club in San Antonio.

Canyon Springs Golf Club

Ranked by Golf Digest as the state’s eighth best golf course, the Canyon Springs Golf Club is a great course to play in San Antonio. Thomas Walker designed this par 72 course made up of more than 7,000 yards. The greens are made of Flora Dwarf grass and the fairways of Bermuda Tiff. Canyon Springs Golf Club may become one of your favorite places to play.
